About Coach Mike Iuzzolino

A native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Mike Iuzzolino played college basketball at Penn State before transferring to Saint Francis University, where he led the Red Flash to their first NCAA Tournament appearance, earning Northeast Conference Player of the Year and Tournament MVP — as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and secondary education along the way.

A two-time Academic All-American, he still holds Saint Francis’ single-season scoring record. He was selected in the second round of the 1991 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks and went on to play professionally for more than a decade in the NBA and top European leagues in Italy, Greece and Spain.

Following his playing career, he spent nearly 20 years coaching at the collegiate level, including roles at Duquesne, George Mason, Saint Vincent College, Canisius and Robert Morris University. Throughout his career, he became known for his ability to teach, connect and guide student-athletes through both success and adversity.

Iuzzolino’s path led him to Sewickley Academy, a private, independent college preparatory academy located in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. The move allowed him to focus on what matters most: teaching, mentorship, personal growth — and spending time with family.
